[Trenton] — Chairman of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee John Currie reacted to news headlines about Tom MacArthur, who casually threatens “civil unrest” if Congress considers restrictions on automatic assault rifles.

“As Governor Murphy noted, when school children are being gunned down in their hallways with automatic weapons, the times demand actions, not just thoughts and prayers. We certainly don’t need a shill for the gun lobby who would rather make excuses than keep school children safe. Unfortunately, New Jersey’s third district has a congressman who does just that. He’s already supported taking away our health care and raising our taxes, now he wants our streets to be less safe. Clearly, Tom MacArthur is lock, stock, and barrel for his corporate cronies, no matter how it impacts the people of his district. This November, New Jersey won’t take kindly to that fact.”
