Chris Christie than under previous governors, primarily due to a sharp reduction in direct property tax relief over the past two years. In fact, net property taxes are 20 percent higher under Christie than they were when Democrat Jon Corzine left office two years ago.

In the meantime, as the residency rule was clearly not being enforced in 2011, as state elections officials certified her candidacy last year, and as she subsequently won election by a healthy margin, the proper thing to do would be to let her take office. It would be wrong for the court to ignore the will of the voters here by changing the rules of the game after Election Day, even if they weren’t the wisest rules.

New Jersey Democratic State Committee Chairman John Wisniewski announced today that former Assembly Speaker Joseph J. Roberts, Jr., was named one of six Democrats to the New Jersey Redistricting Commission, the panel that will redraw the boundary lines for the 12 seats the state will have beginning with the 113th Congress in January 2013. Roberts is expected to be named chairman of the party’s team when it convenes.
