Chairman Wisniewski’s Statement on the Primary Results for the 16th Legislative District

(Trenton)- Yesterday, primary elections were held throughout the state.  Last year, Assemblyman Peter Biondi (R), who represented Legislative District 16, passed away shortly after his re-election, necessitating a special election in 2012.  In the primary election to nominate the Democratic candidate for the remainder of Biondi’s unexpired term, Marie Corfield was selected by voters of the 16th district.  Assemblyman John S. Wisniewski, Chairman of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, issued the following statement regarding the primary results.

“I congratulate Marie Corfield on her victory in yesterday's primary.  As a member of the New Jersey General Assembly, I am proud to have her on our team and look forward to serving alongside her in the Assembly.  As Chairman of the State Democratic Committee, I’m committed to making sure Marie has the support she needs to get to Trenton this November.  This fall is an important election year and we must work hard and make sure we turn out and re-elect President Barack Obama, Senator Bob Menendez, and elect Democrats throughout the ticket in November.”
