Chairman Wisniewski Memorial Day Statement

(Trenton) Monday, May 28, 2012 marks the annual observe of Memorial Day, a holiday established to honor the men and women who have given their lives in the service of the United States.  Assemblyman John S. Wisniewski, Chairman of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, released the following statement regarding Memorial Day 2012:

“Memorial Day has become known as a festive occasion and has come to mean the start of summer for many. But we must never forget its true purpose and meaning.  This is a day meant to honor and remember those who have given their lives in service to our country and defending our liberty.  It is also a time to demonstrate our appreciation for the sacrifices of those who serve in uniform today.  To all on active duty and all who have worn a uniform or have had a family member serve in uniform, I say thank you.”
