Even Governor Christie Isn’t Confident that Romney Will Beat President Obama
(Trenton) Yesterday, Governor Chris Christie said in one of his countless, taxpayer-funded, self-promotional town halls, that he would certainly think about running for President in 2016 should Mitt Romney lose to President Barack Obama in November. Assemblyman John Wisniewski, Chairman of New Jersey Democratic State Committee Chairman issued the following statement in response to Christie’s comments:
“The fact that Governor Christie is even publicly discussing the possibility of running for President in 2016 while serving as a top Romney surrogate tells us all we need to know about Republican confidence that Mitt Romney’s failed policies of the past will be enough to beat President Obama in November. Poll after poll have shown that middle class Americans side with President Obama’s prescriptions to move our economy forward – such as tax relief for the middle class while ending tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans and making critical investments in infrastructure and education so that we rebuild our economy from the bottom up and not the top down.
Just like Mitt Romney, Chris Christie hasn’t gotten the message. Perhaps that’s why he’s bent over backwards to bring “Romney Economics” to New Jersey while falsely touting a New Jersey Comeback as he campaigns across the country instead of fixing our problems here at home. Just like Mitt Romney’s Massachusetts, New Jersey is lagging the nation in economic growth and job creation. Romney’s Massachusetts was 47th out of 50th in job creation over his four year term and last year, New Jersey was ranked 47th out of 50th in economic growth.
Governor Christie would do better to focus on improving that failed record instead of playing political pundit.”
