What Jersey Comeback?

(Trenton) The Star-Ledger reported this afternoon that New Jersey’s unemployment rate has risen to 9.6%, well above the national average.  Meanwhile, Governor Chris Christie continues to tout a “Jersey Comeback” that has no basis in reality.   According to the Star-Ledger , this is the highest gap between New Jersey unemployment and federal unemployment numbers in decades.  Assemblyman John Wisniewski, Chairman of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, responded to the jobs numbers:

“Apparently the road to Tampa goes straight through Fantasyland, as Governor Christie continues to tout a fairy tale ‘Jersey Comeback’ on his road to the Republican National Convention.  Back in New Jersey, where Christie’s allegedly still the governor, we’re now experiencing 9.6% unemployment.  Christie’s had three years to help New Jersey get back to work, and his agenda is not working.  Governor Christie, we saw another Republican declare ‘Mission Accomplished’ before finishing the job.   The people of New Jersey were too smart for it then and they're too smart for it now.  Stop with the publicity tour and get to work on getting New Jersey back to work.”
