Wisniewski Statement on January Jobs Report Proud of 23 Straight Months of National Growth (Trenton) New Jersey Democratic State Committee Chairman John Wisniewski issued the following statement on the January jobs report showing the economy added private sector jobs for the 23rd straight month: “Today’s jobs report showing that the economy added 243,000 jobs in January is confirmation that the President Obama job creation strategy of tax cuts for the middle class and infrastructure investment is working. When the President took office, we were losing more than 700,000 jobs a month. The economy was spiraling out of control, and the economic security of millions of middle-class Americans was vanishing.” said Wisniewski. America’s businesses have now added jobs for 23 straight months. In that time, the private sector has added more than 3.1 million jobs, the Americanauto industry and the more than 1.4 million jobs it supports were saved, and American manufacturing is creating jobs for the first time since the 1990s. The President is also building a foundation for a stronger economy and a stronger American future with his work to expand American manufacturing, American energy, and skills for American workers. His proposals will restore the economic health of America's hard-working middle class families and stand in sharp contrast with the Romney/Christie trickle down proposals that pretend to help our economy and our people by putting more money in the pockets of wealthy America. Mitt Romney and Chris Christie don’t agree that we should invest in our workers, our students or American industries. And just as baffling, they don’t even admit that, thanks to President Obama, our economy is recovering. But these numbers don’t lie. We were bleeding jobs, now we’re creating them. We have much more work to do, but January’s jobs report undeniably shows that we’re moving in the right direction.” ###
