Wisniewski Statement on Romney Running Mate

(Trenton)- This morning, Mitt Romney announced Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate.  Assemblyman John Wisniewski, Chairman of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, released the following statement:

“Mitt Romney has chosen the architect of the radical Republican budget plan as his running mate.  Paul Ryan's budget plan made it clear that under his leadership, America’s middle and working class families are on their own.  Ryan shares Romney’s commitment to cutting taxes for the wealthy while placing bigger burdens on everyone else.

If you care about the women, children, and seniors in your life, you must not support Paul Ryan.  Ryan co-sponsored legislation to ban in-vitro fertilization, many forms of birth control, and all abortions, including cases of rape or incest.  He voted against the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which helps women fight for equal pay for equal work.   Ryan supports deep cuts to education programs including Head Start and Pell Grants, hurting students from pre-school through college.  He wants to turn Medicare into a voucher program and has supported privatizing Social Security, which together would jeopardize the health and financial security of millions of seniors. 

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan want to call themselves America’s Comeback Team, but just like Chris Christie’s non-existent ‘Jersey Comeback’, their policies will just come back to haunt the middle class.”
