CHAIRMAN JOHN WISNIEWSKI

imageChairman John Wisniewski grew up in a middle class family in Sayreville and learned at a young age the values espoused by his parents and neighbors – the importance of family, hard work, and community.

His father Felix, a local millwright at National Lead, and his mother Ceal, showed John by example that working hard is not just about enriching your family. Rather, it is about being grateful for what we are given in life: faith, education, freedom and by working hard, giving back to your family and community. As a kid, John helped his father run for and win a seat on the Sayreville Borough Council and watched his father put his lessons into action.

As he got older, John also got involved and later served as President of both the Sayreville and Middlesex County Young Democrats. John received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University, before attending Seton Hall University School of Law.  John continues to live in Sayreville with his wife Debbie and their three daughters, where he is Managing Partner at Wisniewski and Associates, LLC.

John was first elected to the New Jersey General Assembly in 1995. Overwhelmingly re-elected seven times by the voters in the 19th Legislative District, he’s never forgotten where he came from or the countless people who helped him along the way. His personal experiences are the driving force behind his most meaningful legislation.

As the Chairman of the Assembly Transportation, Utilities, and Independent Authorities Committee, John understands that we need to smartly invest in our future.

As the Chairman of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, John has worked to bring the party back to basics, building up through the grassroots and strengthening our party for the future.

In 2011, Chairman Wisniewski led the successful Democratic effort on the Legislative Redistricting process, the once a decade process in which state legislative districts are reapportioned.

As a father of three, John understands that the safety of our children takes precedence over everything else. That is why he is fighting to improve the safety of teen drivers by ensuring that they are adequately trained and prepared for our busy roadways. Using his experience as Chairman of the Fire Safety Commission, John has been a strong advocate for banning the sale of novelty lighters, equipping our buildings with sprinkler systems, and introducing a real fire safety education curriculum in our public schools to teach the next generation critical safety procedures during an emergency.

Making smart fiscal decisions. Standing up for working families. Promoting public safety. Those are the values that shaped John, and those are the values that shape his work representing us.
