Vice-Chairwoman Dana Redd

Dana Redd has quickly emerged as a smart, articulate political leader committed to all the best aspects of public service. Her name may be new to some, but she has earned the respect and admiration of those who know of her service as a member of Camden City Council, as the Director of Operations for Camden County's Department of Buildings and Operations. Dana previously served as Chief of Staff to Freeholder Riletta L. Cream.

A lifelong resident of the City of Camden, Dana graduated from Rutgers University's Camden Campus in 1996 with a degree in political science and business. She has devoted herself to public service ever since.

Elected to City Council in 2001, Dana serves as board liaison to the Department of Administration and co-chairs the Law Department and Department of Health & Human Services. She also serves on several Special Committees including: the Camden City Friends of the Library, who in partnership with city & county government, hope to build two brand new libraries for the inner city residents, and the Kennedy Plaza Project, an endeavor to bring public art to the City of Camden.

Dana also contributes her time and talents to a number of civic-minded organizations in the region, including the American Red Cross, the Camden County Board of Social Services, the West Jersey Health & Hospital Foundation, the Camden Eye Center, and the New Jersey Redistricting Commission. She has also served on the Board of Directors for the Camden County Council of Girl Scouts and Literacy Volunteers of America.

Dana is a recipient of the African-American Women's Network 1998 Bronze Star Award and Respond, Inc. Award for Outstanding Leadership In Government and the Camden County East Branch NAACP 2002 Visionary Leader Award.

Her favorite quote is taken from Shirley Chislom, the first African American woman elected to the United States Congress, who said: "Service is the rent you pay for room on this earth."

Dana Redd lives in Centerville with her family.
